第一句的attending错了吧，得用将来时或者直接attend。第二句也错了吧，before是介词，后边要接从句形式的句子不是直接一个句子。

如果是叙述纯粹过去的事情，just before he would take the make-up exam after 3 days. 或者如果你要表达2天前考砸了，3天后补考，那么第一句和这一句没问题He failed his exam 2days ago, and he will/is going to take his make-up later in 3 days.

而且正常情况下这里用before逻辑上说不通，你这里所要表达的是因为考砸了所以要补考，除非语境是故意考砸，这个没有谁会那么干吧？

英语里的句子可以很短的，没必要用这样的句式把两句连成一句话。

另外如果只是表意的话，第一句可以是 He failed his math exam 3 days ago. His make-up exam was two days after 或者 He attended the make-up exam two days after。你想表达的就是补考日子在哪天的事实（或者这个人在哪天参加了考试的事实），无需用连句句式暗示因果关系
