People choose where they live and I think that's their basic rights. They choose to not live under the authoritarian regime. It can be as simple as that.

I will list out a few things that annoyed me the most:

  1. China does not support human rights in any forms. You can't vote; you can get interrogated because of your ethnicity. No freedom of speech and even no freedom of press.

  2. You pay heavy taxes. You pay both income taxes AND excise tax. It can goes up to 60% but social welfare is pretty much no existent.

  3. Party takes everything - legislature, executive and judiciary. You may get nothing but sending to jail if you protest. They care to amend the constitution becomes someone needs to stay on presidency longer.

The list can go on if you want. But, to your question. People here want to leave China because they wanted to. It can be indeed that China is "bad" to a unrecoverable state. But this sub is (at least intended) for info sharing. Wording are sometimes harsh because people need affirmation to make decisions.

You are asking the wrong question. The question is not what's so bad about China, but what's so good about China. The answer is nothing. China is a hellhole where people are oppressed, brainwashed, and exploited by a tyrannical regime that cares only about its own power and wealth
