法庭还记录了这名男子在2019年被定罪严重攻击他人，以及在2019年和2020年协助人们伪造难民身份。所有这些都是在新西兰授予他庇护之后发生的。
在其决定中，法庭指出：“这名男子虚假地表示，他是一名真正的基督徒皈依者，并且在他所声称的情况下被拘留和警告。”此案件发生之际，新西兰官员比起基督徒难民，允许更少的穆斯林难民进入该国。这种情况可能会损害真正受迫害基督徒的形象。
