想问一下大家对于美国排名低r1 phd的看法

cs专业，学校在usnews本土综排200+，cs和csrankings排名都是100出头，导师比较一般，但人品不错，毕业要求也不高。想问一下大家，这种学校在美国会受到歧视吗，在就业和date方面？（我之前在欧洲一个名校summer research的时候，date女生吃到过名校光环的福利，所以有些好奇弱校是不是个严重的DEBUFF）

这年头找教职我认为比H1B还要难 教职招聘也是性格为主吧 都R1了 都差不多

R1学校多了去了。。一般或者中下的R1怎么可能能和Michigan和Berkeley比。大部分的教职（至少是工科）就那么几个学校毕业的。。

教职当然比H1B难，我们刷了100多份才收了2个。大部分PhD都想要教职，但opening少啊。有的学校最近资金紧张，都不想付律师费了，叫他们用OPT，3年以后再说。

靠后的r1感觉很少能发cs顶会了，我感觉一方面是科研能力不够发顶会，另一方面是可能差一些学校更value期刊。我看这个低排名r1的毕业去academia的大部分去了本州一些排名更后的r2，极少部分留了本校或者去了差不多水平的r1

不是，两个原因：一是博士生自己能力或努力不够导致发不上顶会；二是lab资源或支持不够，靠自己单打独斗难。会议发不出再改改转投期刊也是可以的，所以你说的第二个不对。这两个原因前者更主要，因为如果是后者，靠资源和支持发顶会的，那一作肯定不是你的。

谢谢。。cybersec行情这么差吗？我看那个学校cybersec phd毕业的小黄人挺多都去了中小厂做sde，也有少数大厂sde的。感觉cybersec很难找到对口的industry工作，哪怕是top school，小黄人毕业去industry的也是去做sde/ds，没见过做research engineer和security engineer的。

还有，请问information science和social computing这两个领域呢？我本身感兴趣的领域是这两个，但是差一点的学校很少有这俩方向

乙方公司/有gov客户的基本都要clearance，互联网甲方还是可以opt/h1b的。但是这几年行情不好，相关岗位不是缩招就是不招，research岗相比其他cs方向坑也很少。

毕业要求高不高是一方面，预计毕业成果能不能走niw保底/争取eb1b或eb1a感觉也得考量下。这领域paper难发+cite低的要死

我目前为止除了这个offer没offer，除非gap等到我投的paper发出来不然也很难申请上更好的欧美学校。。。我倒是能去日韩的非top的高排名学校，但是日韩非top学校的认可度是个问题....
